North East Fashion Fest




North East welcomes glitterati
The Northeast Fashion Fest (NEFF) kicked off in the heart of the Guwahati city on Friday, March 1. NEFF is an initiative by BASICS (Basics Concepts and Marketing Pvt. Ltd.) in association with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.

The fest was organized to promote the sericulture, handlooms and Assam silk weaves. This fest is eyed upon by the state to give a chance to the local talent to network with beneficial partners and market.

Day 1: We got a chance to cover the event on the day of its inauguration. Open studios and workshops, lectures, forums and floor talks were organized for the budding fashion and jewelry designers. Exhibition of fashion and lifestyle products, fashion shows, rock concerts and other cultural programmes hogged the limelight on the first day of the event.

A fashion show was organized on Friday evening, which was inaugurated by handloom and textile minister Pranati Phukan. Models walked the ramp in renowned designer Sunita Shankar's collection. Bollywood actor and the brand ambassador for NEFF, Soha Ali Khan was the showstopper of the event. In her interview with our intern, she mentioned her mother to be her style icon.

Designers like Raghavendra Rathore, Jenjum Gadi, Rajdeep Ranwvat, Annu & Amrit and Ankita Choudhary amongst others displayed their creations on Day 2 and 3 of the festival. Top models Jiah Khan, Evelyn Sharma and Mugdha Godse graced the ramp on simultaneous day of the fashion shows.

Day 4: On the last day of NEFF, fashion designer Dheeraj Deka stole the show with his innovative creations fusing Assamese textiles with modern designs. Tribal jewelry by Yana Ngoba also earned praises with her experiments on unique motifs and jewelry from 400 odd communities of Arunachal and Naga tribes.
